라드웨어코리아, 클라우드 디도스 방어로 전년비 50% 성장
라드웨어코리아가 클라우드 기반 보안 솔루션으로 가파른 성장세를 보인다. 올 상반기 매출이 작년 동기 대비 50%가량 성장했다. 회사 측은 주력 기술인 분산서비스거부(디도스) 방어를 비롯해 웹 애플리케이션 방화벽(WAF), 봇매니저, 클라우드 네트워크 보호(CNP)까지 국내 구축사례를 빠르게 늘려가고 있다.
김도건 라드웨어코리아 대표는 29일 “올해 국내 보안 시장 성장이 가파르다”면서 “한국이 올해 처음으로 라드웨어 아시아 지역 사무소 가운데 중국과 인도 매출을 뛰어넘을 것으로 예상된다”고 말했다.
라드웨어는 1997년 이스라엘에서 설립된 보안 기술 기업이다. 한국을 포함한 세계 각지에 클라우드 디도스 센터를 총 11곳 구축했다. 전체 임직원 약 1100명 가운데 3분의 1이 연구개발(R&D) 인력이다. 매년 총 매출 20% 이상을 R&D에 투자한다.
디도스와 WAF 분야 강자로 꼽힌다.
김 대표는 2005년 라드웨어코리아에 합류한 이래 올해로 17년째 국내 사업을 이끌고 있다. 본사에서 개발한 제품을 ‘한국형’으로 커스터마이징, 국내 시장을 공략해 왔다. 최근 괄목할 만한 성장세를 보이는 배경으로는 2013년부터 쌓아 온 클라우드 기반 보안 기술력과 시장 설득 노력이 바탕이 됐다고 분석했다.
김 대표는 “트렌드가 바뀌면 매출은 쉽게 흔들릴 수 있다”면서 “라드웨어코리아 성장이 의미가 있는 건 클라우드 보안 필요성에 대해 시장이 공감하기 시작했다는 점”이라고 설명했다. 기존에는 국내 고객이 보안에 선제 투자하는 경우는 드물었지만 최근 투자 필요성을 인지하기 시작했고 클라우드 보안 인식도 높아졌다는 것이다.
김 대표는 “비즈니스 경쟁력은 웹 기반 인프라가 갖춰진 기업과 그렇지 않은 기업으로 나뉜다”면서 “코로나19 이후 기업이 피부로 이를 체감하게 됐다”고 말했다.
클라우드는 이 과정에서 최소 비용으로 최대 효과를 볼 수 있는 기술로 클라우드 기반 보안 솔루션을 찾는 고객도 많아졌다.
라드웨어코리아는 국내 최대 기업과 5대 은행에 솔루션을 공급하며 기술력을 검증하고 노하우를 쌓았다. 클라우드 디도스 센터의 경우 코로나19 사태 이전에 국내에 센터를 구축했다. 코로나19 이후 디도스 방어 대책을 고심하던 고객에게 차별점이 됐다. 인터넷서비스제공자(ISP)를 거치는 방식이 아니기 때문에 지연과 보안 이슈까지 한 번에 해결한다.
일례로 국내 대형 은행 A사는 라드웨어코리아 솔루션을 온프레미스부터 클라우드까지 하이브리드로 구축했다. 지난해 대규모 공격을 받았지만 라드웨어 제품을 통해 자동 정밀 방어를 수행, 별다른 이슈 없이 방어에 성공했다.
국내 고객만을 대상으로 한 커스터마이징도 신뢰와 성장 발판이 됐다. 김 대표는 “본사에서 코어를 개발하면 국내 시장에 맞는 제품으로 설계한다”면서 “국내 시장을 철저하게 분석해서 선보이는 제품이기 때문에 대다수 다국적 기업이 갖고 있는 약점을 제거한다”고 말했다.
하반기까지 한 해 사업을 마무리하면 올해 총 성장률은 전년 대비 60% 가까이 될 것으로 내다본다. 올해 성과를 바탕으로 내년에는 중소중견기업(SMB) 시장 공략에 나설 예정이다. 가볍고 적정한 비용의 미들레인지 솔루션으로 승부수를 띄운다.
김 대표는 “현재 성장세를 잘 유지해 하반기 확실한 모멘텀을 만들 것”이라면서 “국내 고객을 위해 합리적 가격 정책과 우수한 제품을 선보이고 궁극적으로는 SMB 시장을 적극 공략하겠다”고 말했다.

라드웨어의 디펜스프로 제품군은 5G, 엣지 컴퓨팅, 네트워크 가상화와 관련된 새로운 네트워크 환경과 빠르게 증가하는 대역폭의 수요에 맞춘 보안 솔루션을 제공한다. 대기업 및 서비스 공급업체는 디펜스프로와 함께 최고 수준의 보안 및 신뢰성을 유지할 수 있다.
DDoS 공격 대응 플랫폼 디펜스프로 800은 400G 인터페이스를 사용해 최대 12억 PPS(초당 패킷 수) 이상의 공격 처리 속도를 지원하고, 초당 최대 800Gbps 규모의 완화 용량으로 디도스 공격을 방어함으로써 철저한 보안을 자랑한다. 특히, 특허받은 행동 기반의 자동화 알고리즘을 통해 보다 정교하고 다양해진 유형의 멀티벡터 공격에도 대응할 수 있다.
